Compeer of Lebanon County is excited to share that Compeer Support Services have begun! Compeer has been entrusted by the United Way of Lebanon County to provide continuation of existing mental health support groups to the community. We are honored to expand our organization to include these services.
Support groups help adults in mental health recovery feel valued, inspire one another, and allow them to act as role models for each other. Talking to a counselor or doctor can be very intimidating for some people, but peer members of support groups are equals, helping group members to feel more comfortable opening up. By continuing to follow our Compeer model of providing hope and a sense of normalcy, this will allow individuals living with mental illness to feel safe and share without being perceived and judged as different.
Compeer Support Services will hold support groups at the Compeer office twice monthly on the first and third Tuesday of every month. There is a general support group that will provide caring support for any individual age 18 and older who is experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, and/or diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizoaffective disorder, or any other mental health condition. This group will meet from 5:30pm to 6:45 pm.
There is also a family member support group to provide relatable, sensitive support for any individual age 18 and older who has a family member or a loved one living with a mental health condition. This meeting will be held from 7:00pm to 8:15pm.
Both of these groups are free of charge and open to the community.
