Dr. Martha Thompson has been providing direct clinical care in mental health and addictions since 1999. In August 2023, Dr. Thompson became Compeer of Lebanon County’s new Executive Director, which she runs alongside Empower the Mind LLC, a mental health organization in Lebanon County. Her passion for helping others grow to their best drives her personally and professionally. She is always learning and exploring what else is out there to help those in need. Now, she’s bringing her expertise to Compeer as we continue to grow our services throughout Lebanon County.
Julie was born and raised in Lebanon County, graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School, attended Penn State University, and earned her BS in Behavioral Science with a Psychology option. Before Compeer, Julie worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters Capital Region for over two decades. Julie married her husband, Michael, over 25 years ago and has two children, Hannah and Noah. In her leisure time, Julie enjoys sprucing up her home, photography, and caring for her two German Shorthair Pointers, Finn Lee and Trigs.
I am passionate about every human being treated equally with compassion and respect. I am happily autistic/ND. I have over 20 years of health care and human service experience, including nutrition, wound care, cognitive impairments, fall prevention, and combating social isolation. My hobbies are gardening, woodworking, and checking out new restaurants with friends. For the last 15 years, I have lived in the Lebanon area and have a spouse, a grown child and two cats.

Timothy Umstead
Timothy grew up in Central PA and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from Central Penn College with a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communications, where he began his career at Compeer as a public relations and marketing intern. Timothy is a solid public relations and creative writer passionate about reading, pop culture, and gaming. In addition, he enjoys working for nonprofit organizations, helping them to establish their branding and messaging for their cause.
